Hi! I'm Caitlin, wife of James and mama of Maxwell. I am a proud USCG wife, former ballerina, photographer, and retail manager. Being a working mom isn't easy, and this blog gets {seriously} neglected now and then {most of the time}, but I keep up with it when I can.

Our Story

The first photo of us together '05
I don't exactly remember when we met because it was so long ago, but it was probably somewhere around 2001ish.  We used to take karate classes together and we were acquaintances all through high school.  In 2004, after his high school graduation, James joined the Coast Guard and moved to Boston, MA.  We fell out of touch for about a year and then started talking again in mid 2005.  After talking online while James was out to sea, we decided to start seeing each other when he came back from his patrol.  We began our long distance relationship in August '05 and remained long distance for 3 years.

At his brother's wedding, 6/16/07
James proposed on my 19th birthday (June 23, 2007) shortly before moving out to Hawaii.  He planned out the big surprise by acting like everything he was doing was for my birthday.  We were supposed to go stargazing, but it rained that night.  So he spent the whole day decorating the room with stars and candles.  We ate dinner and he gave me my birthday gift, a circle diamond pendant.  Then he turned the music on and asked me to dance with him.  When the song Save the Last Dance For Me (Michael Buble) came on, he told me how much he loved me and then dropped to one knee.  Clearly, I said yes.

After a little over a year of planning, we were married on July 26, 2008 in Foster, Virginia at a beautiful manor house on the East River.  The day was perfect and we couldn't have asked for anything better.  We were surrounded by family and friends and it was exactly what we had envisioned for our wedding.
Our Wedding Day

Immediately following the wedding, I moved out to Hawaii to live with James.  We lived on the island of Oahu for 2 years where I spent my time teaching dance for Ballet Hawaii and working for Banana Republic.  The Coast Guard threw us a curve ball when they offered for James to switch over from working on C-130 aircraft to work on the HH-65 helicopter.  The catch?  We had to move a year early from our beloved island home to Atlantic City, NJ!

We now live in Mays Landing, NJ.  Upon moving here, I began working for Destination Maternity and stayed with the company for about a year before I was offered a higher level position at Bath & Body Works.  We've really been enjoying our time here even more than we thought we would and have met some of our best friends in the world here.  We are so lucky that we said yes to an adventure and decided to move early, if we hadn't, we would have never met the amazing people we have met here.

Another amazing journey we embarked on was the journey to have a baby.  We had no idea of just how long that journey would be, but we decided in the spring of 2010 that we were ready to start trying for a baby.  After 1 year of no luck, we started seeing an OB about our problems getting pregnant.  She did a lot of testing and determined that I wasn't ovulating consistently and eventually started us on the medication "Clomid".  After 2 rounds of Clomid, and a total of 15 months of trying, we finally got our positive pregnancy test on September 22, 2011 and our baby boy is due to arrive on June 4, 2012.
