Hi! I'm Caitlin, wife of James and mama of Maxwell. I am a proud USCG wife, former ballerina, photographer, and retail manager. Being a working mom isn't easy, and this blog gets {seriously} neglected now and then {most of the time}, but I keep up with it when I can.

7 Months Old

Clothing Size:  We're definitely out of all of the 3 month & 3 to 6 month clothing.  But I see him being in 6 month clothing for awhile longer.  All of his 6 month onesies are still pretty bunchy and he still has plenty of room to grow.
Feeding:  We're still dealing with distraction while nursing, but I'm getting better at combatting it.  I know last month I said we were probably going to wait until 8-9 months to start solids regularly, but around a week ago, he really started to show signs of interest in solids.  So we tried some peas.  He didn't seem to be a big fan of the taste {haha}, but he was a huge fan of the whole eating process and the overall experience of eating food.  He had such a blast that for the past week we've been feeding him solids once a day.  Only about a tablespoon though, just enough for him to get the experience without taking away any of the nutrition he gets from breast milk.
Sleeping:  Not much has changed in this category.  He's still a really good sleeper at night, but naps during the day are a totally different story.  We call it a good day if we can get him down successfully for one really good nap.  That doesn't happen every day though.
Milestones: He has 2 teeth that have popped through the gummies!  Both of the bottom front teeth are growing in.  Also, he's right on the verge of crawling.  He can get to his hands and knees and can hold himself for awhile and he's really mastered going from laying on his back, rolling to his tummy, pushing to his hands and knees or hands and feet, and pushing back to sit up!  Definitely one proud mama here!

I feel awful that I really didn't take many pictures this month, but part of it is that Maxwell is in no mood to be sitting still lately.  So, there've been more videos this month than still shots.

Thoughts on the seventh month
You've changed so much this past month.  At the beginning of your seventh month, you were just starting to show the signs that you were almost mobile.  Now, it's just around the corner and I'm waiting for you to crawl any minute!  In the past week you've mastered going from laying on your back, rolling to your tummy, pushing to your hands and knees, and pushing to sit on your bottom.  You do this funny "inchworm" crawl where you tuck both feet under you and slide forward on your belly.  I can't leave you out of sight anymore because you sure can move!  You're even pulling yourself up on anything you can find so that you can stand.  Your favorite way to move is to hold our hands and walk.  You've even stood for a few seconds by yourself!  You hit another big milestone this month too, you now have two little toothies!  They popped through your gums within 5 days of one another!

6 Months Old

Weight:  15lbs, 8oz
Length:  25 3/4"
Head Circumference:  17"
Clothing Size:  He's surprisingly still able to fit in a lot of his 3 month clothing, but he's filling out 6 month clothing too now.  The doctor said he was on the smaller side (10th percentile for weight, 20th for height), but I think he's in the middle of a growth spurt.
Feeding:  He's still a very distracted eater during the day, but eats really well at night.  Although, he was up about every hour last night, so that's getting a little old!  We gave him his first solids at Thanksgiving, just a little bit of organic avocado.  We probably won't start him on solids regularly until 8-9 months though, it just doesn't feel right yet.
Sleeping:  He still hates to nap, but we're starting to figure out his signs of tiredness better and are able to get him to sleep sometimes before he gets overtired.
Loves: His kitties, the exer-saucer, bubble baths in the big tub, the remote control, breastfeeding, chewing on everything, standing, talking, mornings, rolling, mirrors, peek-a-boo, his toes, splashing, The Lion King.
Hates: Naps, bottles, his car seat, not being able to see everything, diaper changes.

Thoughts on the sixth month
Half a year old!  We're halfway to your first birthday!  You're so much fun and you learn and grow more every day.  You're rolling over like a pro (both ways), although sometimes you forget how to roll from your tummy to your back.  You sit up without any help and you've even started diving onto your tummy like you want to start crawling.  I know that's not too far away!  Everything goes in your mouth these days and it seems like everything we own is covered in drool!  I hope you get a tooth soon so that your little gummies will stop bothering you so much.  You love taking bubble baths in the big tub, you take one with mommy every night.  You had your first Halloween and your first Thanksgiving and you even got to meet Santa!  Daddy and I can't wait for your first Christmas!
