Hi! I'm Caitlin, wife of James and mama of Maxwell. I am a proud USCG wife, former ballerina, photographer, and retail manager. Being a working mom isn't easy, and this blog gets {seriously} neglected now and then {most of the time}, but I keep up with it when I can.

The {almost} Finished Nursery

All we have left to do is hang some things on the wall and line the inside of his dresser drawers!  I'm so happy with how it's turned out and I love how simple and open it is.  I already love spending time in the nursery!

30 Weeks: 10 Weeks to Due Date!

30 Weeks/7 Months

Maxwell's size: Over 15 inches, and 2 1/2 lbs, about as much as an acorn squash.
How far along: 30 Weeks.
Total weight gain:  25 lbs.
Sleep: Getting more and more and more uncomfortable.  The snoogle definitely helps, but it doesn't fix everything!  Although, once I fall asleep, I sleep pretty well.  It's just getting really hard to get comfortable enough to fall asleep.
Stretch Marks: Still none!
Food cravings: Still no real cravings, I'm starting to think I'm not going to get any.
Food aversions:  None.
Symptoms: Whoa, Braxton-Hicks!  I've been having them a LOT this week.  The doctor said it was normal as long as I'm not having more than 6 in an hour (which I'm not), it's my body "practicing" for labor.
Movement: He's still super active.  He moves all the time and his kicks just keep getting stronger and stronger!
Belly Button: Still hasn't popped yet, but it looks like it could happen any day!
Nursery Update: Still haven't painted those pesky shelves and I haven't done his dresser drawers yet, but I did have do a massive amount of baby laundry this week getting all of his clothes, bedding, & towels ready for him!

Self Maternity Portraits: 29 Weeks

29 Weeks

29 Weeks

Maxwell's size: Over 15 inches, and 2 1/2 lbs, about as much as an acorn squash.
How far along: 29 Weeks.
Total weight gain:  23 lbs.
Sleep: I've been really tired this week.  I haven't really had trouble sleeping, but it hasn't been great either.  I'm back to waking up a lot at night to use the bathroom.
Stretch Marks: Still none!  I'm slathering my belly in my Mama Mio belly oil and crossing my fingers that I come out of this unscathed!
Food cravings: Still no real "cravings", but it's been a lot more difficult to turn down sweets.
Food aversions:  None.
Symptoms: Heartburn was actually better this week, but I think I've been experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions.  I'm not 100% sure though.  I'll have to ask about it at my appointment on Wednesday!
MovementStill moving quite a bit and the movements are definitely getting stronger.  One night this week he kicked so hard that James and I both saw it and it looked like he was trying to jump right out!
Belly Button: Slowly disappearing, but still an innie.
Nursery Update: Well, I did actually find time (at like 2am when I couldn't sleep) to organize his nursery and get some things put away.  We've stocked up on diapers and he's got enough newborn clothes now (we're only doing onesies for newborn because he'll grow out of them so quick).  The only things left to do for the nursery is to paint some little shelves I want to put up and I want to line his dresser drawers with fabric.  But then we're done and the room is ready for his arrival!

28 Weeks

28 Weeks

Maxwell's size: Around 14.8 inches, and 2 1/4 lbs, about as much as a rutabaga.
How far along: 28 Weeks.
Total weight gain:  22.5 lbs.  I'm not sure if this is 100% accurate because I had already eaten when I weighed myself.  But it could be because I've been told that a lot of women experience a "growth spurt" around this time.  So who knows.
Sleep: I slept awesome this week!  I don't know if it was just a fluke, but I feel like if I stay up a little later until I'm so tired I can't hold my eyes open, then I sleep SO much better.
Stretch Marks: None.
Food cravings: None.
Food aversions:  None.
Symptoms: I think heartburn let up a little on me this week, but now I'm back to having to pee every five minutes.
Movement: He's been moving around a fair amount, but it's more like a schedule now.  He's more active in the evening and early in the morning.
Belly Button: Slowly disappearing, but still an innie.
Nursery Update: It's coming together, but we have a lot to do now that we've had our baby shower and received all these gifts!  I don't know when I'm going to find time to organized everything into his room!

Nursery Update #6

Custom bench cushion.

The basket underneath will hold Maxwell's book collection.

The glider that we'll soon be rocking him to sleep in.

27 Weeks

27 Weeks

Maxwell's size: Around 14.5 inches, and almost 2 lbs, about as much as a head of cauliflower.  Very exciting developmental news this week:  If Maxwell was to be born today, he would no longer be considered a "micropreemie" and would have about a 95% chance of survival!
How far along: 27 Weeks.
Total weight gain:  19 lbs.
Sleep: Getting more and more uncomfortable, but not totally impossible.  Still getting up 4, 5, 6 times a night to pee though.
Stretch Marks: Still none, though I'm into the 3rd trimester so who knows, they could make an appearance anytime!
Food cravings: None.
Food aversions:  None.
Symptoms: Still suffering from heartburn and indigestion.
Movement: Still feeling him move quite a bit.  It's so cool to watch him kick and see my belly move.  I still haven't felt any hiccups yet, but hopefully I will soon.
Belly Button: Slowly disappearing, but still an innie.
Nursery Update: I finally received the foam for the cushion in the mail and sewed the cover for it.  It took me about 4 straight hours from cutting fabric to the finished product, but it was worth it.  The cushion looks so cute and it's awesome to know it's something that no one else will have but Maxwell.
